About Us

Precisely Write Company History

Precisely Write is a technical writing and content management services company that operates under the watchful eye of owner and company president, Ruth Nickolich. Ruth started the company in 1996, after working as a technical writer for a software company and as an independent contractor for approximately three years. When you hire Precisely Write, you are not just hiring a writer, you are hiring a team of experts in many areas:

      • Consultants
      • Writers
      • Editors
      • Graphic designers
      • Proofreaders
      • Information architects
      • Project managers
      • Content managers

The Precisely Write staff encourages its team of experts to pursue improving skills that are in keeping with new and diverse technology. The team focuses on keeping up with current trends in software and the latest practices in content management. In addition, we consistently operate from a set of specific documentation life cycle standards that has made Precisely Write the company to call for your documentation and content needs.

We deliver technical documents:

      • User manuals
      • Quick reference guides
      • On-line help
      • Policies and procedures
      • Reports and proposals

Our clients are seeing the value in content management as a way to organize information and allow them to produce more deliverables with less effort and expense. With so much documentation being produced, organizations have had to find ways to reuse information and to manage their content as a business asset. Content management helps them put all the pieces of content in a database for easier retrieval and keeps all content consistent throughout the organization.

With public (and now possibly some private) companies being required to document almost everything they do and how they do it, Precisely Write can also work with those companies to complete Sarbanes-Oxley, FDA, or other regulatory documentation requirements to help them remain compliant.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality and most user-friendly documentation to companies globally. Our prices are fair and competitive with those of similar companies. We will provide every client with a team of professionals either certified in technical communication or with similar education and years of experience, and we will always use state-of-the-art software and professional education and training to accomplish our mission.  We are committed to continually meet and exceed the service expectations of our clients.

Precisely Write, Inc. is a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE and WBENC certified).

Society of Technical Communicators DITA Presentation February 2006

Discovering DITA: Precisely Write staff member, Greg Whetsel, gave a presentation at the February 2006 Indiana STC chapter meeting about his path of discovery from Burlesque to Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA). Greg shared his explorations about this mysterious way to structure documents according to topic typing. For example, Greg learned that nearly anything can be a topic, but exactly what type of topic is something altogether different. DITA includes a general topic structure that is specialized (that’s DITA talk for customization) into concept, task, and references.
